Juveniles can lose their license in so many ways under Georgia law. Here is a list of offenses that will suspend your child’s license:

  1. Missing too many days of school (Truancy)
  2. Hit and run or leaving the scene of an accident in violation.
  3. Racing on highways or streets.
  4. Using a motor vehicle in fleeing or attempting to elude an officer.
  5. Reckless driving.
  6. Any offense for which four or more points are assessable.
  7. Unlawful passing of a school bus.
  8. Improper passing on a hill or curve.
  9. Exceeding the speed limit by 24 miles per hour or more.
  10. Aggressive Driving.
  11. Purchasing an alcoholic beverage.

  13. Misrepresenting age for purpose of illegally obtaining any alcoholic beverage.
  14. Misrepresenting identity or using false identification for purpose of purchasing or obtaining any alcoholic beverage.
  15. The driver’s license of any person under 18 years of age who has accumulated a violation point count of four or more points within any 12 month period.

This is in ADDITION to up to a jail term of 12 months and up to a 1,000.00 fine. Sometimes it means that YOU, as parents, can pay higher insurance premiums or have your policy cancelled altogether because of your child being convicted of these offenses. Sometimes there strategies to help your child keep their license and avoid jail and unusually large fines.
